Visit to the University of Maryland Space Systems Laboratory
Before SUAS 2025, AAV visited the University of Maryland Space Systems Laboratory, a university lab known for space robotics and neutral buoyancy research.

During the SUAS 2025 trip, AAV visited the University of Maryland Space Systems Laboratory as part of an overseas learning day.
The laboratory is known for its neutral buoyancy research facility, where water is used to simulate aspects of working in microgravity. This gave AAV members a rare chance to see how engineering teams use physical test environments to study space robotics, astronaut tasks and human-system interaction.
Although AAV works in maritime robotics, the visit carried a clear lesson. Whether a system operates in water, air or space, serious engineering depends on test environments, mission constraints and disciplined iteration.
